Day at Jane’s

Yesterday I spent the most luscious day with my friend and fellow designer, Jane Thornley.
Jane lives in the sort-of country, far enough out of the city to qualify as "country", but close enough in the event one runs out of yarn. Her wonderful husband, John, built this alcove among the trees, the perfect spot for reflective knitting.
As always when Jane and I get together, there is non-stop talk--about knitting, about life, about how all things connect.
We got down to business right away with a swim in the "Goddess Pool", that spot in the river that flows by her house which invites a dip.

We indulged our senses even further with a romp through her design studio. I got to see many works in progress and I can tell you that you are all in for a treat with her new designs. I had to try on every one of them, even with the needles still attached.

There is no one to equal her, in my opinion, for combining colour and texture, and inviting us all to let go of the rules and find our inner knitting muse. Jane has definitely found hers and each design grows more uniquely "Jane".

Her Berber jacket is one of her latest offerings and reflects her experience in Morocco:

Each time I visit Jane, I become more inspired to experiment more, break out of expected boundaries and try new approaches to this art form that has no boundaries.
