A Stole for Violetta

img_3932_400A knitter on Ravelry mentioned that a stole for Violetta would be a good accessory for that design.

In replying to her forum post, I outlined a possible stole pattern for Violetta. One which I will share here. The stole pattern basically echoes the main lace structure of the shell itself.

Here is the pattern:

Cast on 61 sts (same as for the XS size)–to give your a stole a width of 14.5 inches.
Take Chart A from the Violetta pattern and repeat one and a half (or two and a half times) for a border (depending on whether you want a wide border).

Then work Chart B for your desired length (minus the final border) and back to Chart A for the final border–to match the initial one.

I would recommend keeping the 2 side border stitches in Garter Stitch so that the sides don’t curl. Slip the first stitch of each row purlwise to give a nice, clean edge.

Knit the last wrong-side row. When done, with right side facing, bind off loosely knitwise, block and wear.

If you do try this, let me know how it looks. Enjoy!
