March’s Best Sellers

I always find it so interesting each month when I tally up my sales statistics and see which of my designs have been the best sellers.
In March number one was At the Market, by far the most popular design in my recent City Collection. This versatile shawl comes in two versions. So if the full-size is just too much shawl for you, the scarf version comes up with generous dimensions and can be multi-purpose.
With those weighty tassels in each of the four corners, At the Market need never slip off your shoulders.
The second and third place bestsellers were surprises, though.
Brickwork and Open Waters:
But then again, perhaps I need not be surprised. These otherwise quite simple designs have a lot of potential.
Brickwork comes in three versions: a neck-warmer scarf (that uses a single 100-g skein of any fingering weight yarn), the full-size scarf (as pictured) and a shawl version. The stitch pattern is effective with a handpainted yarn, causing the colours to move in an organic way. I have seen versions of Brickwork worked in self-striping yarns, like Noro and Trekking, and they are wonderful. Each one unique.

As for Open Waters, choose a luxury yarn, something you'll love next to your skin. I used Lorna's Laces Lion and Lamb. The built-in shaping of this design guarantees that this wrap will sit naturally on your shoulders. Its construction, unlike many poncho styles, also gives lots of free movement for your arms.

That makes it easy to slip on, easy to wear.
These are practical designs, ones that will get real-life wear. No wonder they are the ones many knitters have chosen.
