Earth Maiden in Fingering

I am always impressed with how others interpret my designs. Often I think, "I wish I had made that!"
Here offcoloratura, a knitter from Ravelry.com, has converted my Earth Maiden pattern for a fingering weight yarn. The original design uses a double knitting or light worsted weight yarn.
The gradual and subtle colour changes are dyed into the yarn and evolve in the knitting process. This dyeing technique is an exclusive of this yarn, called the Gradiance Collection, from the Unique Sheep.

offcoloratura has kindly allowed me to post her directions for converting the Earth Maiden pattern for a fingering weight yarn. She also includes her directions for using the Gradiance yarn. They are as follows:
Using a US #5 needle, CO 363 sts (6 for right border, 6 for left border, single stockinette stitch, and 35 repeats of the 10-stitch central motif)
3 rows garter stitch and Chart A 4 times. 43 rows
Chart B 15 times (final row left off). 102
3 rows garter stitch 105
Chart A 3 times. 135
Chart B 11 times (final row left off). 178
3 rows garter stitch 181
Chart A 2 times, 2 rows garter stitch 203
BO
I’m using only 5 of the Gradience balls for this, as I ordered 75-gram skeins of each color, which is more than enough. If need be I’ll use the 6th for the i-cord.
Color changes take place over 18 rows as follows:
2 rows new color
4 rows old color
3 rows new color
3 rows old color
4 rows new color
2 rows old color
There are 205 rows altogether (counting both the CO and BO rows), divided by five that’s 41 rows for each color. Divided as follows:
Color 1: 32 rows
18-row transition, 50 rows
Color 2: 23 rows, 73
18-row transition, 91
Color 3: 23 rows, 114
18-row transition, 132
Color 4: 23 rows, 155
18-row transition, 173
Color 5: 32 rows, 205
Actual finished measurements: 90” x 27”
Thanks for sharing this, offcoloratura.
