A Scottish Recipe for Creativity

The pattern for the Scotland Scarf is offered as a recipe, one that you can alter at will, one where you can have lots of fun playing with colour. A great stash-busting project!
The instructions do specify the ingredients and proportions that I used. But you can mix your ingredients in any way that please you.
You are not restricted to handpainted yarns, either. Solid colours would work well, highlighting the stitch definition.
Want a soothing, relaxing knit, without worrying about colour changes? Then choose a favourite colour and work the entire scarf in it. Use the side borders as the place to inject another accent, with a constrasting or complementary colour.
Although the pattern directions specify a fingering weight yarn, there is no reason that you have to follow them. A heavier weight yarn will result in a larger, wider piece. Add a few more repeats in the width and length and make an afghan.

There is no right or wrong way with this design. Use it as a recipe for your own creativity.
