Canada Games Fever

Canada Games fever has gripped Halifax this past week. And it will continue for another week, too.
The city is full of athletes, all sporting their provincial jackets and toques. The media is full of news of the different sporting events. Even local knitters are in on the action, competing with knitting projects, much like the Knitting Olympics.
But I haven't organized myself enough to take on the knitting competition. So what am I doing for the Canada Games?

Photographing the art.
I couldn't get enough of the sculpture in front of the new Canada Games Centre, built especially for the occasion. Actually it is the podium for the Games' flame. But I photographed it before the Games began and before the flame was lit.

The brilliant blue with the yellow contrast, echoed in the water slide against the building in the background. An architectural, tent-like structure, but oh, so aesthetically pleasing.

I almost froze my hands, taking pictures of the scultpure from every angle. I'm convinced there is a knitting design buried in this structure somewhere.
