Debbie Bliss in Nova Scotia

Yesterday we had a wonderful visit here in Nova Scotia with Debbie Bliss and her daughter Nell. And what a treat it is was!
The day was perfect, the best that Nova Scotia has to offer, sunny, bright, with a gentle cooling breeze. The event was held just outside Halifax at the Inn on the Lake, the perfect setting for an afternoon get-together for knitters.
Organized by Louise of LK Yarns in Halifax and Pat of Baadeck Yarns in Baddeck, Nova Scotia, it was an afternoon of book signing, meeting the designer, and relaxing on the lovely grounds of the hotel with our knitting. In the early evening, Debbie gave a presentation. This was followed by a fashion show of many of her latest designs.
This was where the real fun began.

Because the models were the knitters themselves.
After some initial shyness, we all rushed to try on the beautiful samples Debbie had brought.

Here Louise is trying on a classic sweater (Twisted Cable Cardigan in Rialto Chunky--one of Debbie's new yarns this year):

Several of the pieces were from Debbie's current Fall/Winter 2011 Debbie Bliss Magazine:

I also finally put my camera down long enough to try on one of the pieces that I particularly liked, the Cable Yoked Tunic in Rialto Chunky:

Once we settled down enough from all the excitement of the "fashion show", we had the chance to browse the selection of new yarns (Riva , Paloma, and Rialto Chunky) as well as the very popular Angel yarn, light as air with colours that are irresistible. Here it is worked in a simple, elegant shrug.

Needless to say, I walked away with my own stash of Angel, as well as some Riva and a couple of books, too.
