Halifax Public Gardens

In the centre of Halifax, surrounded by office buildings, shops, and condos, sits the jewel of the city, the Halifax Public Gardens.
This oasis of loveliness and calm invites visitors to take time to observe the natural beauty around them.
Opened to the public in 1867, it was quite a while in its development phase. It is a Victorian garden, with water features, geometrical garden plots. A rather formal garden, but with sections of more tangled beds.
People of Halifax are very proud of their public gardens and make good use of them. I never tire of going there, even if it is only a detour on my way downtown.
Inspiration is there at every turn. It just so happens that I am working with some linen yarn in just this colour:
