Nettle Knits

Recently I had the pleasure of spending some time at Local Jo's Cafe over coffee with a talented, young designer, Catherine Wilcox. Her website is Nettle Knits .

nettle_knits_028_400Like only two people who share the same obsession can, we talked for two hours about all aspects of knitting design and how to translate our ideas into designs for others.

A graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design , Catherine brings an artist's sensibility and awareness to her knitting designs.

Her focus is knitwear for babies. She wants to explore unusual constructions and innovative stitch patterns.

Here she is with a new design, the "Castle" sweater. This pattern is suitable for boys or girls and plays with the turrents and crenellated surfaces of an ancient castle.

Catherine's design business is still fledgling, but she has lots of plans. For now, her first pattern for purchase is the adorable vest pictured here:
