Out of the Knitting Doldrums

I have been in the knitting doldrums lately. But I am glad to report that I am now out of them.
It seemed that, no matter what I tried, I couldn't get that knitting mojo going. The inspiration was there. After all, I have many sketchbooks filled with design ideas, should I ever hit a dry spot. That wasn't the problem. I had ideas enough. It was just that when I tried to work them out, they just didn't seem to go anywhere. So swatch after swatch was a disapointment.
Then after a while, it came back. Just like that. And I am so happy that it did. Now I am working away happily on a project--a good-sized one, too--that will keep me busy for some time.
It is hard to know what gets that energy flowing again. Maybe it's the yarn, maybe it's the design concept, maybe it's just the mood one is in. But when they come together, it feels like magic to me.
I am now working with one of my favourite yarns, Fleece Artist Sea Wool. This handpainted yarn is a combination merino and sea cell (70% merino, 30% sea cell). The sea cell gives the yarn a silky lustre and delicate hand, while the merino wool maintains that structure for which wool is famous.

So it has a lovely drape, without becoming "floppy".
I used it in the vest pattern, In the Courtyard, and it has become one of my favourite things to wear. Light and luscious. The crispness of the yarn holds those double yarn overs really well.

So it's good riddance to those doldrums. Full sail knitting ahead!
