St-Denis Yarn

I always enjoy making the acquaintance of a new yarn. This most recent one has been particularly pleasurable: St-Denis "Nordique", the new yarn being marketed by designer Veronik Avery.
Veronik's beautiful classic designs have always been a delight. But to discover a yarn that complements these is icing on the cake.
Or rather it's the cake itself. "Nordique", the new yarn developed by Veronik in her new yarn line called St-Denis, can be described by all the adjectives one would use to describe Veronik's design work: unique, stylish, elegant, classic, fashion-conscious, while still being functional, with attention to detail. A vintage yarn.
This week-end I had fun swatching with this yarn and fell in love with it for all of these reasons. Because it is such a classic 100% wool yarn, I can imagine never tiring of it.

And the colours! Oh, the gorgeous colours, especially chosen to complement each other. You can put almost any of these colours together and they will work. This makes this yarn the perfect selection for any colourwork, especially Fair Isle knitting.

To support the release of this new yarn, Veronik has put together a wonderful collection of pattterns in the premier issue of St-Denis Magazine. Many of the designs are by Veronik.

And some have been contributed by fellow designers, like Mary Jane Mucklestone:

Here I have been working with "Nordique" in the "Blue Eggshell" colour. And I just love it.

Great stitch definition for lace work. A yarn with body and memory. And once it has been washed and blocked, it becomes so soft, while still maintaining its structure.
I know I am going to want to work more with this yarn. The wheels are already turning...
P.S. For the information of those of you in the Halifax-Dartmouth area: I purchased my Nordique at LK Yarns in the Hydrostone Market.
