The Cutting Edge Show

Whenever I am in Toronto, as I was last week, I always try to fit in a visit to the Textile Museum of Canada. It is a must-see for anyone interested in textiles. I always find it to be a treat.
Even though it is a small museum, it is so full of delights, that, like a box of rich chocolates, I have to take it in slowly, one bite at a time.
The show that caught my attention--and one from which I learned a lot--was The Cutting Edge. It is all about the shape of a garment: how it is formed from a single piece of cloth and how it relates to the culture of the community it is found in. So many techniques.
So many ways to embellish a garment:

So many ways to shape a garment:

So many ways to edge a garment:

So many ways in which a garment signifies wealth and status:

So many ways for a knitting designer to be inspired:

My mind is still reeling...
