This Thing for Diagonals

I seem to have a thing for diagonals. And I am back at knitting more diagonals this summer.

For some reason I find those lines that slant away at an angle very appealing. Here I am swatching with one of the loveliest of yarns for summer knitting, Hand Maiden's Flaxen (65% silk, 35% linen).

It combines the freshness of linen with the luxury and drape of silk. Light and cool to work, and with great stitch definition, too.

Diagonals are nothing new for me. I have submitted to their allure on numerous occasions, beginning with Diamonds on the Diagonal:

Then there came Fluid Linen and Balsam:

And last summer's patterns included Tidal Streams:

I don't know yet what this latest venture into diagonal knitting will end up being, if anything. But I am having fun indulging myself in the joint pleasure of diagonal lines and pleasurable yarn.
