In the Company of Artists

A few week-ends ago I had the privilege of leading a week-end knitters' retreat at the Tatamagouche Centre in Nova Scotia called "Knitting for the Soul". And I found myself in the company of artists.

There were eight of us and we spent the week-end exploring the ways that knitting connects us to ourselves and to the world around us.

And this photo was taken AFTER the scavenging had already taken place.

Here is Laurie, who hardly put her needles down all week-end, knitting even at meal-times.

We drew our inspiration from what each day had to offer:

Lynda's landscape/skyscape perfectly captured the icy winter day--with its hint
of blue sky that grew as the week-end progressed.

Do you see the tiny coral flecks that she integrated into her knitting?

Edith combined everything she saw, including the delicious yarns and other goodies from the afternoon yarn crawl.

And there was celebration, too. Kim, on the far right, had her brithday that week. Her daughter, Sam (centre) and friend Laurie made this a "birthday week-end" for her. Can you imagine a better way to celebrate a birthday?

When we left, we all said, "Next year in Tatamagouche..."
