The Seductiveness of Red Tweed

I find it almost impossible to resist red tweed yarn. Let's face it. I find it impossible.

So when I saw Jo Sharp's Silk Road Aran Tweed at Tangled Skeins in a sultry, romantic red, the outcome was inevitable.

I have long admired Jo Sharp's incredible design sense, from her ornate, colour-laden, graphic tapestry-sweaters to the modern, subdued elegance of her more recent work. And the artistic presentation of her designs in her magazines and books are second to none. The mood and atmosphere they create in every issue are intriguing and seductive. And always carry the Jo Sharp signature.

If you are unfamiliar with her work, just take a look at her website to get a taste.

I started with just 3 balls of the Silk Road Aran Tweed, thinking that I would make a small item, perhaps a last-minute Christmas gift. But after working with it, I decided, it had to be a full-blown project. And I went back to buy all the remaining balls of the red.

A shrug, a sweater, a wrap, a shawl? The jury is still out on that. But swatching, in earnest, has begun.
