The Painter's Palette is the pattern that launches the Five--More--Easy Pieces Club which is now well under way.
I had been intrigued by the new series of colourways in the Opal yarn which are based on the paintings of Vincent Van Gogh.
Choosing the colours from the "Bedroom in Arles", I set about designing a piece that would allow the colours full play.
This piece is essentially a scarf with oval-shaped ends and surrounded on all sides by a soft ruffle.
It begins with a Provisional Cast-On at the Centre. The Main Body is worked in one direction, ending with a ruffle that is attached to the end like a knitted-on edging. After returning to the Provisional Cast-On, you work in the opposite direction, in the same manner as the first.
The use of short rows in the ruffled border creates a flirty, playful piece that can also be converted into a shrug by sewing seams for sleeves.
This design is for knitting fun as you watch the colours change and modulate.
It is exclusive to members of the Five--More--Easy Pieces Club. Join now and receive this as well as the four remaining patterns as they are released. The next one will be going out in a couple of weeks.
