Pantone Colour of the Year 2013
Pantone's Colour of the Year for 2013 is "Emerald". A beautiful, rich, jewel tone--and I realize that I don't have anything in this vibrant colour. This has to change!
There is much to commend the colour green. "The most abundant hue in nature, the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum," said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. "As it has throughout history, multifaceted Emerald continues to sparkle and fascinate. Symbolically, Emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal and rejuvenation, which is so important in today's complex world. This powerful and universally-appealing tone translates easily to both fashion and home interiors."
Green is a colour that I personally rarely wear. Not because I don't like it. Quite the opposite. Green fascinates and seduces.
But I seem to be married to blue. It takes discipline for me to resist picking up the blue skein of yarn in the yarn shop.
It is time for a change. And Pantone has shown the way. More green this year, especially the the sparkling version of green fround in "Emerald".
The greenest of the colourways I have on offer is Fleece Artist Woolie Silk 3-Ply in "Rain Forest". It has touches of Emerald in it.
I used a blue-green combo in the "Shorelines" jacket:
It is time to explore more options of using Emerald Green in my projects. That should be fun!
