Harkening back to the 1920's, during the time of Richard Strauss' last opera, Capriccio, this trapezoid-shaped shawl pays tribute to the Art Deco style of the period.
It features a diagonal lace stitch pattern worked in an asymmetrical way, creating an off-centre focal point.
The entire shawl is also encircled by a simple edging of holes formed by double yarn overs.
Its distinctive shaping gives this piece its versatility. Wear it with the long edge at the top as in the main image above. Or wear it with the shorter end at the top and pin it as in the image below:
The holes in the edging allow you to button this as a wrap or tie it with a ribbon. A piece that gives you lots of options.
I am looking forward to seeing your version of this pattern.
