Look what arrived in the mail. Two infinity scarves in traditional Latvian design, direct from Cita Rota in Latvia!
Such a surprise from one of my relatives in Latvia! Cita Rota, a craft shop promoting Latvian crafts for a contemporary audience. Liels paldies, Martin!
The red-and-white design is based on the Lielvardes Sash and is the most famous of all the decorative Latvian belts, worn as part of the national costume.
Its symbols are of ancient mythological significance, bestowing on the wearer protection, well-being, good luck, and health.
Cita Rota has updated the use of the pattern as a long infinity scarf that can be wrapped twice around the neck and worn as a cowl. Knit with 10% merino wool, it can also be ordered as a regular scarf.
