Desert Blossom

The first pattern in the Desert Series: Desert Blossom is now available.

During my recent visit to Death Valley National Park in California, I was fascinated by the plant life there. In some places, there were no plants at all; in others, there were resilient sage and desert phlox.

Taking a cue from the colours of the desert phlox, I decided to name this piece after the hardy flora of the desert.

Worked along the bias in a combination of Garter Stitch and lace faggotting, Desert Blossom offers exquisite drape and the gentlest coverage when outside temperatures soar.

Short row sections are interspersed throughout in a contrast colour, causing the long line of the shawl to dip and curve along its length.

Desert Blossom is offered in two sizes: Shawlette and Full-Size Shawl.

Choose your own favourite colours to knit your unique version of this pattern. Yarn kits for this design are available here.
