Austria Scarf

Worked from the centre outwards, towards the two flared ends, the Austria Scarf draws from that country’s vast store of stocking patterns, part of Austria’s traditional costume. It combines two elements often found in stitchwork from this mountainous region: cables and lace.

A contemporary interpretation of an age-old knitting practice.

The sample pictured is knit with St-Denis Nordique, 100% wool, (137 m./150 yds. per 50 g. ball), colour #5801, “White”.
